Our HTC Hero Review
The HTC Hero is designed with personalisation and usability in mind. This phone was long awaited by gadget lovers everywhere and no wonder; with fantastic aesthetics, touch screen and a 5-megapixel camera, amongst other things, the Hero has some great features that many people were simply waiting to test out.
Most people will agree that the Hero looks and feels amazing. With a large screen and a shape that makes it comfortable to hold, this phone is on the right lines as far as its design is concerned. Many people argue that the chin of the Hero makes it less attractive and are not keen on this part of the design, although if you lay the phone face down on a flat surface you will see that the screen and the touchball will not touch the surface because the chin stops this from happening – a very innovative idea.
Many people consider purchasing the Hero because of the brilliant camera; 5-megapixels mean that this phone is better than some of the digital cameras that are on the market today. The camera on the Hero is so superb that you will no longer have any need for a digital camera, and with uploading your photos online being so simple on this phone you will wonder why you ever did it any other way. The only downfall of this camera is the fact that it is a bit slow in taking photos which can be frustrating for the impatient among us. The video function on the Hero, however, is not as impressive; issues such as a low resolution and occasional stalling mean that you might not want to get rid of your old video camera just yet!
The Hero intends to be highly usable and has unique features such as the way it files away e-mails, notes and conversations amongst other things. This is great for people who like for things to be in their rightful place and would appreciate this level of organisation. Some people have criticised the Hero’s usability, however since there are some things which make it sometimes slightly frustrating to use. The on-screen keyboard, for example, can be a bit slow.
Despite the fact that there are some minor flaws with the Hero, the stylish design and range of applications means that many people will choose to look past these issues and the majority of these people will actually think that the Hero is a great phone and will enjoy using it.

JakeAm submitted on 6 December 2009Finally! A capacitive screen. It seemed like the iPhone was dominating the capacitive market. I got sick and tired from those resistive screens where your index goes sore from clicking. Kudos to HTC.
Larry123 submitted on 2 December 2009I was always wondering if Iphone would ever get a tough competition and it's clear now. It has a flexible user interface and my search for the perfect mobile ends here for now. Great performance, great design.
FionaQ submitted on 28 November 2009I was happy to hear it has a Gmail app. Great phone with great design. I was so happy the phone contacts are in sync with Google Contacts. Bought it on a whim, but extremely pleased with the outcome.
