The Nokia 6288 is an updated version of the 6280 3G slide phone. Attractively styled with a high gloss finish, it comes in black or white. The only difference from the 6280 is that the 6288 has a larger 512 Mbyte card. A two megapixel camera with a flash and digital zoom is integrated, as is a second VGA camera for video recording and making video calls. The TFT display with 320 x 240 pixels and 262,144 colours is one of the best on the market.

If you like your music then this phone is ideal, with a stereo music player compatible with MP3, MP4, AAC and eAAC+ formats, as well as an FM radio. The half gig memory card gives you plenty of space for music and video, and can be expanded. This mobile phone is a high-end model, comprising most of the features of a smartphone, but, instead of a Symbian operating system, it uses a fast Series 40 operating system.

You can hardly get a higher spec than the 6288. Features include enhanced voice dialling, a voice recorder and an integrated handsfree speaker. If that’s not enough then add in email, Nokia Xpress audio messaging, and three Java games that come with the phone - 3D Rally, 3D Golf & 3D Snake and the scope to download others. The mobile supports EDGE for fast downloads in 2G mode. Bluetooth, USB and infrared are all supported, providing excellent connectivity. There have been one or two problems reported by users, but the Nokia 6288 is an attractive modern slide phone with a long list of high spec features.
